Fuel Pump? What is the best?

Postby microsprint3k » Mon Feb 08, 2010 12:49 am

I have a 03 RR with R6 carbs on alcohol all stock. I currently have a holley black on it and it is just to much. My return line is wide open and it still overfills and blows out the carbs. What is the best thing to run with my set up?

i run holley pump and regulator, never had any problems with it, alot of people have been talking about this on here and alot of them like the Nos fuel pump.

The Holley red pump is what you want the Holley black pump has a higher pressure setting from factory the red is the lower pressure pump run fuel pressure at 3 to 4 lbs off regulater Holley has 2 different regulators also get the low pressure one I know that Speedmart has this set-up in there Catalog. Speedway Motors has them also your Motor guy should lead you in the right direction some like the red Holleys some Like the Nos pumps the advantage of a Nos pump is in most cases you need no regulator as max output is usally 4lbs a Holley red is 7-8 lbs needs regulator Hope this helps

As far as pumps go, Check with your carburetor builder for the correct fuel pressure. The black holley, you should be able to regulate down to the pressure your builder requires. Sounds like you have needle and seat problems in your carbs. As far as red holley pumps go. The biggest problem with holleys is they put a coating on the bypass valve that starts flaking and sticks the valve. When this happens your pressure will go toooo high or toooo low. Just pollish off the coating and that problem is eliminated. I recommend all nos, holley etc fuel pumps be ran 1 year and replaced with a new pump. Methanol is hard on everything. Just my 2 cents. :acclaim:
