Double File Restarts at Coles County Speedway ?

What's your opinion on double file restarts? With the leader having choice of inside or outside or the leader out front in a row of there own.
Before you say no think of it as more competitive racing for the drivers and better racing for the fans.
And doing away with the cone.

They do championship double file restarts where the leaders out front by himself and the second place car chooses top or bottom and the third place car is beside him, at the track we race at now. I like them there alot of fun and it makes for a lot more passing on the restarts, but the problem is it takes forever to get all the cars lined up if you dont run raceivers.

We have talked about this at the meeting the concern is stacking 6 or more cars upon the front stretch because of someone missing a gear. I would like to try it out the first couple of weeks to see how well it would work but you know that their are certain people that do not favor this. I would like to see the lapped cars get the lucky dog and sent to the back so that leader and 2nd place car are not in an accident.

you can also post this in the new forum go to http://www.ccmmra.com/forum/

See Ya Feb 21 at the meeting!

My opinion is we are not racing nascar its short track dirt racing. It seems like you people up there make up to many rule tire rule, how to line up on restarts, heck next you guys will wanna turn right insted of left. The nmma is dead give up and run as an outlaw track and have fun. Look at powri less bs rule more cars and fun. I'm sorry if I made you mad but look at there rules basically 1 paragraph cut and dry race don't cry or go home this is strictly my opinion not powri's. I think they got the best thing going, they did add 2 rules bladders for saftey and radios helps get car in line, thus the show goes faster and we get home earlier, and the fans don't loose intersted and not bored. Again just my opinion.

As long as u get rid of that cone rule i don't care how u line up. The only problem I c is getting the field lined back up. I remember plenty of times red flagging the field 2 line it back up. U want 2 make it more interesting, draw the chalk line n turn 4 and wen the green flag drops the race is on.

One of the most dangerous times is in the first few laps of a race. Everyones stacked up two by two, people are trying to make a move.

The deleware double file restarts with a leader out front maybe cool in USRA and USMTS races if thats what your into, they have fenders and can lean on each other. What if u got guys jumping? Are you also going to police that, black flag guys, call the start back drag your program along and then keep everyone later then they have to already....

I'm not sure it would keep the program moving along, not trying to step on anyones toes by voicing concern and adding my own input.

It's your track, we went to a race and where asked if we wanted to start the feature three abreast we said no. LOL

But with times as hard as they are, and car count to put on good racing that keep drivers coming back and also keep the fans coming back to watch there favorite driver. You'd hate to see restarts that tore up race cars, I'd like to see everyone roll onto the trailer safe looking forward to racing again the following weekend.

Best of luck!

The cone rule on restarts is a good idea it's pretty cut and dry you don't pass untill you drive past the cone it keeps everybody honest and keeps the racing fair.

I agree, keep the cone, lose the double file idea. Sorry Doug, give the infield workers a break on this one, no way they could get this right on the first try (yes coming from an infield worker)

I thought all the fast cars had to turn right to go left! Maybe thats something you should look into.

If you want to put on a good show that keeps the spectators coming back, the show has to start promptly and end at a respectable time.
As long as it takes to restart races single file, why would you want to change to doublefile restarts and chase all the spectators away plus give the scorers/infield workers a bigger headache ?
